Growing Smarter to Protect Our Lifestyle
It’s time to turn the page on bulldozing open space for more sprawl. Instead, let’s enhance the quality of Prescott life.
Most Prescottianans live here because of what Prescott has to offer: open space, natural beauty, forest lands and trail systems, abundant recreational opportunities, beautiful lakes. Downtown Prescott’s eclectic shopping history and charm is another reason people come here. Brandon will find opportunities and expand measures to protect our open space and preserve our reasons for living here.
Economic Development That Works
Creating jobs people want and bringing skills Prescott needs.
Brandon is committed to a more balanced economic development plan that goes beyond tourism. Prescott must attract employers, including clean and light manufacturing, that will fill a void in our employment base, that of higher paying jobs. Doing so will strengthen our economy.
In courting employers and skilled workers, we can press the advantage of city amenities such as our regional and growing airport, our popular city golf courses and the community’s natural beauty to embrace economic development.
Doing so will make Prescott less vulnerable in times of an economic downturn.
Inviting stakeholders to the conversation
Brandon’s plan includes collaborating with stakeholders like area schools and universities, healthcare leaders, business leaders, the Central Yavapai Metropolitan Planning Organization (CYMPO) as well as surrounding municipalities to find common ground for a regional vision and plan.
In addition to pursuing clean and light manufacturing, Brandon also feels it is important to take better advantage of city amenities such as our regional and growing airport, our popular city golf courses and the community’s natural beauty to embrace economic development.
Making sure you have access to medical specialists
Developing these opportunities will lead to higher-paying jobs and, if done correctly, could assist in the needed recruitment of doctors and nurses. When successful, this new focus on economic development will strengthen our economy by supporting local businesses, providing more city tax revenue, and playing a key role in keeping young talent from leaving our community.
As Mayor of Prescott, Brandon has the energy and leadership to achieve these goals.
Wise Water Management
Our water supply is not infinite. Brandon believes the City of Prescott has a critical obligation as an assured water supplier. It will require the continuation of Smart, Reasonable Growth. The time to permanently protect the flow of the upper Verde River, a vital water source, is now. Brandon will fight for the Verde River and work in collaboration with the American River Group Conservation to protect the river and embrace additional options for Prescott to maintain a 100-year supply of water designation from the Arizona Department of Water Resources (ACWR). As a City Council Member,
Brandon is proud of his work in crafting a more significant and substantive water policy in 2021. But the work continues: The policy needs to be adjusted and refined. In Brandon’s opinion, this will require the City Council to review the effectiveness of the policy quarterly.
