About Brandon
Brandon Montoya is a dedicated public servant, small business owner, and lifelong Prescott resident. In addition to serving on the Prescott City Council, Brandon owns and operates Montoya Wealth Management, an independent financial planning firm, alongside his wife, Erica Ryberg.
Since launching in 2016, they have grown the firm into a trusted financial institution that now manages over $55 million in client wealth, assisting more than 100 local households in securing their financial futures.
Brandon is deeply engaged in Prescott’s civic life and has a longstanding record of service and leadership. A graduate of Prescott High School’s Class of 2003, he worked his way into the finance industry after spending seven years as a grocery manager.

In 2017, he became a member of the 28th graduating class of Prescott Area Leadership (PAL), which strengthened his commitment to public service and leadership. This experience set him on the path toward elected office and reinforced his belief in responsible governance, community collaboration, and protecting Prescott’s unique heritage and resources.
Brandon has actively served on numerous local boards and committees, reinforcing his commitment to responsible growth, economic development, and civic engagement:
President, Prescott Frontier Rotary Club & Charitable Foundation (2019-2020) – Led efforts to support local charities, youth programs, and service projects.
Board of Directors, Prescott Farmer’s Market (2018-2020) – Promoted local agriculture and small businesses through sustainable community initiatives.
Board of Directors, Boys & Girls Club of Central Arizona (2024-Present) – Advocating for youth programs and mentorship opportunities.
Water Issues Subcommittee, Prescott City Council (2021-2023) – Worked to advance responsible water policy and conservation efforts for the long-term sustainability of Prescott.
Member, Citizens Water Advocacy Group (CWAG) (2020-Present) – Advocating for responsible water management to preserve and protect the region’s natural resources.
Brandon was unanimously appointed Mayor Pro Tem by the Prescott City Council on November 22, 2022, demonstrating the trust and confidence of his colleagues in his leadership and dedication to the city’s future. He believes in pragmatic decision-making, fiscal responsibility, and protecting the quality of life that makes Prescott a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
A devoted husband and father, Brandon enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two children, Lilyana and Ellis, hiking Prescott’s trails, and competing in local 5K and 10K races. Whether serving in public office, leading community initiatives, or helping families secure their financial futures, Brandon remains steadfast in his commitment to the principles of hard work, integrity, and service to his hometown.
